Three debutants in final preseason match

Arne Slot gave a trio of new arrivals their first-team debuts in front of empty stands at De Kuip on Sunday. Oussama Idrissi, Quinten Timber and Jacob Rasmussen all took to the field for the first time in Feyenoord colours against Osasuna in the last preseason match before the Eredivisie opener next week. The Spaniards won the match 2-1 with a winner at the death.
The fourth arrival of a busy week of transfer business in Rotterdam South was also at De Kuip, albeit as a spectator. Santiago Gimenez remained on the sidelines after signing a four-year deal on Friday, as he’s waiting for his work permit to come through.

With yet more summer signings – Javairo Dilrosun, Sebastian Szymański and Danilo – in the starting line-up, it was no surprise to see a new-look Feyenoord still looking for fluency. The hosts also found Osasuna’s pressing game hard to handle, leading to some dangerous moments in front of Justin Bijlow’s goal. Ultimately, the keeper would be beaten once in the first half by an unexpected shot on goal from a free kick.

Feyenoord were more forward-looking after the break and Danilo might have been rewarded with a goal on his debut. In the end he turned provider, claiming an assist when Feyenood finally netted a few minutes from time. Substitute Cole Bassett finished. But with the match seemingly headed for a draw the Spaniards grabbed a winner in the final minute of time added on.

Feyenoord’s Eredivisie season gets underway on Sunday, when Arne Slot’s men travel to Arnhem to face Vitesse in a 14:30 CET kick-off. The first home match comes a week later on Saturday 13 August, with sc Heerenveen providing the opposition. Secure your seat in the online Ticketshop now.
