Feyenoord start today (Thursday) in the renewed Champions League with a home game against Bayer Leverkusen. Especially for this, the club presents the ‘This is us’ campaign, which is reflected online as well as in the city and in and around the stadium.
The legion wakes up today with a Matchday video on the club's social media channels. In it, a number of players and supporters play the leading roles, the (match) excitement is heightened and much comes together of what makes Feyenoord so unique.
Not only online is everything dominated by the first European match of the season. The return to the Champions League does not go unnoticed in the city either. For instance, a container has been placed in the city centre on Eendrachtsplein, making it look as if supporters are walking through the famous players' tunnel to enter the highest football stage from there.
Supporters taking the tram towards De Kuip may just step into a vehicle decorated entirely in Champions League style with ‘This is us’ stickers. After opening the doors, passengers enter through chic curtains in the colours of Europe's biggest club tournament.
De Kuip itself is also ready for the Champions League. Around the entire stadium, the ‘This is us’ campaign is visible, while around the pitch and on the stands, of course, the recognisable blue and stars of the billion-dollar ball recur everywhere.
The stadium opens its doors at 16:45 today, two hours before kick-off of Feyenoord - Bayer Leverkusen. In the last half hour before kick-off, the legion will be warmed up by DJ Panic, spinning from box Z. Those not at De Kuip can watch the match live via Ziggo Sport.
