Feyenoord recorded a resounding victory over Heracles in Almelo on Sunday. The Eredivisie leaders were far too strong for the bottom side, winning 0–7. Ayase Ueda scored a hat-trick; his second goal – and Feyenoord’s third – marked a milestone for the club: it was Feyenoord’s 5,000th goal in the Eredivisie.
With a busy week ahead – Panathinaikos on Thursday and PSV visiting De Kuip on Sunday – Robin van Persie will have been pleased that the job was already done by half-time. After 45 minutes, the score was 0–4, allowing the coach to give both Ueda, who had completed his hat-trick, and Jordan Bos a rest. There was also no need to take any risks with Givairo Read and Anel Ahmedhodžić, who had both picked up early yellow cards.
Beyond the scoreline, the match was also special for Anis Hadj Moussa (two goals) and Gonçalo Borges. The Portuguese winger scored his first official goal for the club as a substitute – something he was visibly delighted about.
Feyenoord can now look forward with confidence to the two home matches coming up on Thursday and Sunday. Want to be there against Panathinaikos and/or PSV? Visit the official Feyenoord Ticketshop for tickets!
