The goal before half-time and the lack of power in attack meant that Feyenoord were unable to get a point. After the then deserved equaliser from Quinten Timber, who came on as a substitute after an injury, there seemed to be more to come midway through the second half.
By turning away a questionable penalty - Dávid Hancko's foul seemed to be outside the box - Timon Wellenreuther seemed to save a point, but it turned out to be a reprieve. Ajax still struck in injury time through Kenneth Taylor, putting second place out of sight for Feyenoord with a deficit of no less than 12 points.
