In the space of 12 minutes, Feyenoord had got the job done. Ayase Ueda opened the scoring after 15 minutes of play, finishing beautifully with his left after a Jakub Moder cross. Antoni Milambo's chase led to a slip by goalkeeper Schendelaar (2-0) and moments later Igor Paixão signed with a slide for an even bigger lead.

The Brazilian made his second of the evening deep in the second half - in which the entertainment value continued to decline. For Djomar Giersthove, the highlight of the evening was then yet to come: the home-grown defender (20) made his official debut in the main squad shortly before time as a substitute.
