Dick Advocaat supports Feyenoord staff until the end of the season

Advocaat’s advisory role, which takes effect immediately, will remain in the background. He will not take on an official position within Feyenoord’s coaching staff, and therefore will not be seated in the dugout during matches.

“I would like to help Feyenoord, and Robin van Persie in particular, to finish this season strongly,” said Advocaat about his decision to once again support the club as a sounding board.

“I’ve known Robin for almost twenty years, and our relationship has always been good. When I was the head coach here, he, as a former top striker, was eager to share his knowledge with the attackers we had at Feyenoord. Now I can support him in return, and I’m happy to do so.”

Dick Advocaat has been active as a coach in the football world for over 45 years. As both a club manager and national team coach, he has achieved many successes, including most recently Curaçao’s first-ever qualification for the FIFA World Cup.

Director Dennis te Kloese said about Advocaat’s arrival: “Of course, as club management, especially in recent days, we have talked a lot about how we can support the team and staff in this important phase of the competition. The first time I mentioned Dick Advocaat’s name to Robin, he responded very enthusiastically. I noticed the same enthusiasm during my first conversation with Advocaat, so one and one quickly became two this week. After another good discussion last night, he will report to 1908 today, and we are very pleased about that.”
