Feyenoord will officially bid farewell to Peter Houtman on Wednesday 14 May. After the final home match of the season, the retiring stadium announcer will be put in the limelight and thus appropriately thanked for many years of loyal service.
Earlier this year, Feyenoord and Houtman announced that he will be forced to quit as stadium striker at the end of this season. The former top striker is struggling with Alzheimer's disease, while his wife is also ill. Together, they intend to use the coming period to enjoy each other and their loved ones as much as possible.
With that, an era will come to an end after Feyenoord - RKC Waalwijk on 14 May. For no less than 27 years, Houtman was stadium speaker at home matches and his voice became a familiar part of their visit to the Kuip for tens of thousands of Feyenoord fans.
Feyenoord is therefore calling on all those attending the home game against RKC to stay for the farewell after the match to give Peter the farewell he so deserves.
