Thijs Jansen is leaving for SC Cambuur. The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who still had a contract with Feyenoord until mid-2025, will leave Rotterdam for Leeuwarden with immediate effect, signing a multi-year contract in Friesland and thus saying goodbye to Feyenoord after a decade.
‘I am very happy with this step and am really looking forward to it,’ Jansen says of his transfer to Cambuur. 'I have learned a lot at Feyenoord, and the great experiences I have gained I will all take with me to Friesland. It makes me proud to have been able to call myself a Feyenoord player for the past ten years. I am grateful to the club, my fellow players and the supporters for the beautiful memories.'
Jansen was scouted as a talented youth goalkeeper at FC Lisse in 2014. He progressed through several Feyenoord Academy youth teams and joined the first team as a reserve goalkeeper in autumn 2020. In the 2021-2022 season too, Jansen, who made most of his minutes in the Feyenoord youth team, was regularly part of the Feyenoord 1 matchday squad. As a bench player, for instance, he experienced the UEFA Europa Conference League final in Tirana. In the past two seasons, Jansen was loaned out to TOP Oss and De Graafschap respectively.
Feyenoord wish Jansen all the best at SC Cambuur.
