Feyenoord and Van den Elshout reach agreement in principle on contract extension

“The word ‘super proud’ doesn’t even fully cover how I feel,” says Tobias van den Elshout. “I’ve been at the club for about 12 years now and after recently making my debut against Sparta Rotterdam and coming on as a substitute more often, this gives me an even more special feeling. Because I know my future lies at Feyenoord. When I arrived here as an eight-year-old, I dreamed of playing in De Kuip. I’ve achieved that now, but I want to add many more matches and great moments there. I’ll give everything for that. To receive this trust from the people at the club means a lot to me and I’m extremely grateful.”

Van den Elshout started playing football at HVV in The Hague, the city where he was also born. Soon the young talent caught the attention of Feyenoord, where he progressed through virtually all of the club’s youth teams.

The offensively minded right-footed player has been training regularly with the first team since this season. This calendar year he has consistently been included in the matchday squad by head coach Robin van Persie, who gave him his official debut on 18 January at De Kuip against Sparta Rotterdam. Van den Elshout has so far appeared in four official matches.
