Jakub Moder broke the spell after half an hour of play, when referee Bas Nijhuis pointed to the spot after a VAR intervention. The Pole struck from 11 metres, scoring his first Eredivisie goal at De Kuip. Cup finalist Go Ahead Eagles equalised on the stroke of half-time, leaving Feyenoord with a hangover going into tea.
After the break, Anis Hadj Moussa created another lead after some fine individual action, but Feyenoord soon lost it too. The third Rotterdam goal eventually proved too much for the visitors: Paixão tipped the ball into the far corner to give his side three precious points in the race for Champions League football.
