For the second year in a row, Feyenoord and Pelota joined forces to organize a Feyenoord Camp in Willemstad, Curaçao, offering local youth a unique opportunity to train under the guidance of coaches from the renowned Feyenoord Academy. This year’s edition, held from July 14-18 and July 21-25, marked a significant expansion from last year’s one-week format, reflecting the growing interest and success of the initiative.
The camps on Curaçao were initiated by Feyenoord Academy coaches Dencho Narcisio and Justin Tyrol, both originally from the island, whose shared vision and commitment to developing local talent laid the foundation for this growing project. ‘In Curacao, we didn’t just train like Feyenoord players’, said Dencho Narcisio, Coach at the Feyenoord Academy. ‘We embraced the official Feyenoord methodology to inspire over 200 young talents. Trough a focus on technical ability, game intelligence, and motor skills, we helped shape not only better footballers but bigger dreams. We touched hearts, sparked ambition, and left a lasting impact.’
This year’s camp featured over 200 players and included two high-intensity training sessions per day. The sessions were led by three Feyenoord Academy coaches who traveled to Curaçao to share their knowledge, methodology, and passion for the sport.
Feyenoord and Pelota have been organizing Feyenoord Camps in Curaçao since 2024 with a dual focus: football development and social impact. The Feyenoord Camp aims not only to enhance the technical and tactical abilities of young players but also to offer a safe, positive, and inspiring environment where local youth from diverse backgrounds can grow in self-esteem, discipline, and cooperation. 'It was truly inspiring to help bring this level of football development to our local talent', said Justin Tyrol, Feyenoord Academy Coach. 'Witnessing the passion, discipline, and raw potential of these young players reminds us why investing in youth is so important. Not just for the future of football, but for the future of our entire community'.
‘At Feyenoord, we strongly believe in the power of football as a tool for development, both on and off the pitch’, said Gido Vader, Manager of Global Football Affairs at Feyenoord. ‘Through our partnership with Pelota and thanks to the dedication of Feyenoord Academy coaches Dencho and Justin, we’re proud to offer young players in Curaçao the chance to experience high level football training while being in a supportive environment’.
The continued success and expansion of the camp underline Feyenoord’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering personal growth beyond the borders of the Netherlands. With the support of local organizations and the dedication of coaches like Narcisio and Tyrol, the Feyenoord Camp in Curaçao is becoming an important part of the club’s international development initiatives.
