Feyenoord have signed Korean midfielder Inbeom Hwang as their preferred midfield reinforcement. The 27-year-old Hwang comes over from Serbian champion Crvena Zvezda and signs a four-season contract at De Kuip until mid-2028.
Hwang, who is known as a very serviceable player who likes to put teammates around him in position, began his football career in the youth academy of Daejeon Hana Citizen, in his hometown of Daejeon. For that club, he made his debut as an 18-year-old in 2015 and two months later became the youngest goal scorer in history.
Via Vancouver Whitecaps and Rubin Kazan, Hwang joined top Greek club Olympiakos in 2022, where he was voted one of the best players in the Greek league at the end of his debut season. Also at Crvena Zvezda, which bought Hwang from Olympiakos in September 2023, the 60-time Korean international grew into one of the carrying forces in the team. After prolonging Serbia's national title and winning the national cup - with an assist by Hwang on former Feyenoord player Uroš Spajić's decisive goal - the versatile Korean midfielder was named the best player of the past season in Serbia.
Hwang, who is not yet eligible to play for the time being due to formalities that need to be completed, will wear jersey number 4 at Feyenoord.
