Feyenoord continued their impressive run of form in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening. In a packed and passionate De Kuip, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side secured a 3-2 victory over Italian side Como 1907. It was a night that had it all: goals, excitement and an atmosphere that can only be experienced in Rotterdam-Zuid.
From the very first whistle, the Feyenoord supporters made their voices heard, creating the perfect setting for another special European night. However, it was the visitors who struck first. Diao gave Como 1907 the lead, but the Italians had little time to celebrate.
Within just two minutes, Feyenoord had their answer. Gjivai Zechiël produced a stunning strike from distance to level the score, sending De Kuip into a frenzy.
After the break, Feyenoord pushed forward in search of victory, with Anis Hadj Moussa taking centre stage. The winger struck twice in the second half, turning a 1-1 scoreline into a commanding 3-1 lead. The home crowd erupted in celebration as Feyenoord took control of the match.
Como 1907 managed to pull one back in the third minute of stoppage time, but their late goal came too late to seriously threaten the Rotterdam side's victory. When the final whistle sounded, the celebrations at De Kuip could truly begin.
With this victory, Feyenoord bounced back in style from their defeat away to FC Barcelona on Matchday 1. The first three points of the League Phase are officially on the board.
There is little time to celebrate, however. Feyenoord return to VriendenLoterij Eredivisie action on Saturday, travelling to Velsen-Zuid to face Telstar.
