'Amazing. Unbelievable. I'm grateful. Those words were uttered by Brian Priske shortly after he landed by helicopter on the center spot of De Kuip. The new Feyenoord head coach was visibly impressed by the reception he received Sunday during the Open Day: Feyenoord Festival, which was a success with over 30,000 visitors.
Priske was joined in the helicopter by four new arrivals: Gijs Smal, Julián Carranza, Anis Hadj Moussa and Chris-Kevin Nadje. A loud applause descended on them, too, the moment they stepped off the plane into the packed Kuip. No such reception was afforded Jeyland Mitchell. The Costa Rican committed at the beginning of this month is still awaiting his work permit.
The traditionally spectacular helicopter landing was the finale of a more than enjoyable day for young and old. From 11:00 a.m. it got busier and busier around the stadium and especially the youngest Feyenoorders entertained themselves with all the activities the Feyenoord Festival had to offer.
Inside the stadium, the focus was on the presentation of the selections of Feyenoord 1 and Feyenoord Women 1, framed by various performances. When the newcomers had also joined the group from the helicopter and Lee Towers had made the stadium go wild one more time with his You'll Never Walk Alone, everyone went home satisfied.
