Feyenoord are preparing for the decisive weeks of the season. After two weeks' rest, the home game against PEC Zwolle awaits Friday night, the first of the five rounds of play remaining on the programme.
The goal in the final weeks of the season is clear: placement for the Champions League. With Feyenoord currently in third place, that will have to be via the qualifiers, but with five points behind PSV, the Rotterdam camp may still dream of spot two.
The next hurdle is Friday night at home, where Robin van Persie welcomes Thomas Beelen back to the matchday squad. The defender missed the last two league matches due to injury. Oussama Targhalline is on the right track to full recovery, according to the coach, but will still be missing against PEC.
Van Persie had less good news about Julián Carranza. The Argentine has picked up an injury that will keep him sidelined “for the time being”. 'Although it will not last very long,' the coach said at the press conference at De Kuip on Thursday.
