The England international, who has represented his country on 82 occasions, signed an agreement with Feyenoord this afternoon until the end of the 25/26 season.
As a free agent, Sterling was able to explore options without the constraint of the transfer window, eventually opting to join Feyenoord.
‘As a free agent, I've had, for the first time in a long time, the opportunity to control the next step in my career. I wanted to take my time to speak with clubs and their Head Coaches to better understand the role they envisioned for me and ensure that I can add real value in this next chapter. Having spoken in great detail with CEO Dennis te Kloese and Robin, I'm confident that Feyenoord is a place I can be happy and establish myself as a valued member of the team. Playing abroad is a whole new challenge for me - and one I’m ready to embrace. Honestly, I’m just excited to get started. To Feyenoord and particularly Robin and Dennis, thank you for your patience and professionalism as I navigated this process."
Feyenoord’s Head Coach Robin Van Persie said, “Naturally it’s a fantastic feat that we’ve managed to convince a player of Raheem’s calibre to sign with us. His football resume speaks for itself: he’s a player whose qualities can change the outcome of a game without a doubt, and I am convinced he will turn out to be a valuable addition to the team as we work towards achieving our goals in the second half of this season.”
Since breaking on to the Premier League scene at 17, Sterling has played for Liverpool FC, Manchester City, Arsenal FC, and Chelsea FC, terminating his contract with the latter last month.
At just 31-years-old, he possesses one of the most impressive CVs in world football - 182 domestic goals, 86 European goals, 4 Premier League titles, 1 FA Cup, 4 Carabao Cups, 2 Community Shields, an FWA Player of the Year, a PFA Young Player of the Year, and a Golden Boy. Sterling places 2nd for the most Premier League goals scored by an active player, 4th for the most goal involvements in the Champions League for an English player, and 9th for the fastest players to reach 200 goal contributions in the Premier League this century.
His profile off the pitch is just as impressive. In 2021, Sterling was named an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his service to racial equality in sport.
Later that year, he launched the Raheem Sterling Foundation, designed to educate, empower, and inspire young people to become better prepared for the future and to embrace opportunities to achieve greater social mobility. Renowned for his support of young players and their development, in 2025 Sterling launched his RS7 Academy. Built on his belief that talent needs nurturing, not just training, the Academy blends elite coaching with personal development, helping the next generation of footballers grow in confidence, skill, and love for the game.
We welcome Raheem and the experience he brings on-and-off the pitch to Feyenoord. As a club, we are thrilled to be able to contribute to the legacy he has shaped in the game of football.
