Feyenoord had a successful Sunday afternoon in the Eurojackpot Vrouwen Eredivisie. Jessica Torny’s side faced a tough challenge against AZ at the AFAS Stadion but ultimately came away with a 1–4 win.
The first goal of the match came just before halftime, when Mao Itamura headed in a well-placed cross.
Feyenoord struggled early in the second half, allowing AZ to quickly capitalize and equalize: 1–1.
Just over an hour into the match, Kirsten van de Westeringh came off the bench and needed only a few seconds and a single touch to make an impact. She intercepted a goal kick from the home team’s keeper and calmly finished to make it 1–2.
The game remained tense for a while, but Mao Itamura brought relief to her team with her second goal of the afternoon, curling the ball beautifully into the corner from the edge of the penalty area.
In stoppage time, Van de Westeringh also grabbed her second of the match, with a little help from the AZ goalkeeper, who misjudged the Feyenoord midfielder’s effort. Final score: 1–4.
