Feyenoord V1 claimed their second consecutive victory in the Azerion Women’s Eredivisie on Saturday evening. At Varkenoord, Jessica Torny’s team was too strong for PEC Zwolle, winning 2-0. Both goals were scored by Ella Van Kerkhoven.
Feyenoord started the game strongly on Saturday, but it took a while for them to create significant scoring opportunities. In the 27th minute, Esther Buabadi, making her starting debut in the league, managed to keep a long ball in play impressively. She set up her compatriot Van Kerkhoven, who chipped the ball cleverly over the goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
Close call for Van Kerkhoven
Just before halftime, Van Kerkhoven nearly doubled the score, but her close-range shot went wide. Shortly after, PEC Zwolle almost equalized on the other end, with an attempt that was narrowly cleared off the goal line.
In first-half stoppage time, Van Kerkhoven scored her second goal by glancing a corner kick from Romée van de Lavoir just enough with her head to outwit the visiting goalkeeper.
Second half
After the break, Feyenoord had more chances to extend their lead. Van Kerkhoven hit the crossbar shortly after halftime, and Jada Conijnenberg, who replaced the Belgian striker after an hour, also had several good opportunities. However, the score remained 2-0.
