Feyenoord suffered a heavy defeat against Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the final match of their pre-season campaign. Marc Pieters’ side were second best to their German opponents on Saturday afternoon, losing 7-0.
In a well-attended Ulrich-Haberland-Stadion, it quickly became clear that the German side would provide a very tough test, with the hosts opening the scoring inside six minutes.
Feyenoord battled hard, but struggled to create chances in front of the Leverkusen goal and were forced to acknowledge the home side’s superiority for most of the match. After 90 minutes, the scoreboard showed a 7-0 final score.
