Feyenoord V1 secured a narrow victory over HERA United on Sunday afternoon. In the away match of the twelfth round of the Eurojackpot Women’s Eredivisie, a single goal from Esmee de Graaf was enough to claim all three points: 0–1.
Jessica Torny’s side started the match strongly and clearly dominated the first half. Despite that dominance, the play was sloppy at times, resulting in few clear-cut chances. Nevertheless, the breakthrough came after seventeen minutes. Mao Itamura delivered a cross from the flank, allowing Esmee de Graaf to tap in from close range: 0–1.
After the break, Feyenoord remained the stronger side, but once again passing accuracy was lacking. As a result, the visitors were unable to put the game to bed early. HERA United benefited from Feyenoord’s untidy play and grew into the match, although they never truly threatened. The home side attempted several shots from distance, but Feyenoord goalkeeper Claire Dinkla was never seriously tested.
Feyenoord kept HERA unnecessarily alive in the match, but ultimately held on to their lead. A positive note was the return of Ella Van Kerkhoven and Akari Takeshige, who both made their comebacks after injury and got minutes on the pitch.
With the win, Feyenoord remain firmly in the upper reaches of the league table.
