Feyenoord V1 has lost the behind closed doors friendly against Tottenham Hotspur. The team led by Jessica Torny played a strong match in London on Wednesday afternoon, but succumbed to two late goals, resulting in a 2-0 defeat.
Feyenoord started the match in London with sharp focus. After the heavy defeat against Chelsea, Torny’s team was determined to make a positive impression on the final day of their 6-day training camp in England.
Weimar shines
They succeeded, as Feyenoord made it very difficult for last season's sixth-place team in the FA Women's Super League. Tottenham Hotspur did have a few chances, but Jacintha Weimar made several impressive saves to keep her team in the game for a long time.
On the other side of the field, it was Ella Van Kerkhoven, among others, who threatened the home team's goal with a header, but failed to score.
Feyenoord continued to play strongly throughout the match and seemed capable of at least securing a draw.
Late goals conceded
In the final phase of the match, after Feyenoord had made seven substitutions, two goals were conceded in quick succession. Final score: 2-0.
