Pieters made three substitutions at half-time. Avani Brandt came on to make her official Feyenoord debut. Later in the second half, Rio Sasaki was also introduced for her first official minutes for the club.
Feyenoord were the stronger side after the break and continued to increase the pressure. In the 67th minute, that resulted in a goal. Romée van de Lavoir delivered the cross and Tori DellaPeruta headed home to make it 1-2.
Feyenoord created several chances for an equaliser in the closing stages, but AZ held on. As a result, the first home match of the season ended in a 1-2 defeat.
