Feyenoord V1 secure much-needed victory over ADO Den Haag

Following Wednesday's heavy defeat against VfL Wolfsburg, Feyenoord were determined to bounce back with a positive result in The Hague. Head coach Marc Pieters was without injured goalkeeper Claire Dinkla, meaning Oliwia Szymczak started between the posts. Akari Takeshige made her first start of the season but was forced off early due to injury.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm in the first half. ADO Den Haag and Feyenoord were sloppy in possession, with clear-cut chances few and far between. However, Feyenoord managed to break the deadlock just before the interval. In first-half stoppage time, Ilayah Dostmohamed cut inside from the flank and fired the ball into the far corner from inside the penalty area: 0-1.

Chances to seal the win
The game opened up after the break, with both sides creating opportunities. Feyenoord had a golden chance to double their lead in the 63rd minute when Fleur Stoit and Tori DellaPeruta both had opportunities to score from close range, but neither managed to find the net.

With the lead still just one goal, the match remained tense until the final whistle. However, Feyenoord held firm to secure all three points.

The much-needed victory sees Feyenoord climb one place in the league table. The team now turn their attention to Tuesday 10 November, when VfL Wolfsburg visit for the second leg of the UEFA Women's Europa Cup Round of 16.
