Feyenoord Vrouwen 1 has strengthened its squad with Japanese player Kokona Iwasaki. The 22-year-old midfielder joins from Tokyo Verdy Beleza, where she played in the Japanese WE League. Iwasaki has signed a contract with Feyenoord until mid-2028.
"I'm extremely happy with this wonderful step in my career," says Iwasaki. "Of course, it was all a bit nerve-wracking at first, but it feels really good to have received such a warm welcome from everyone at the club. I want to get the most out of myself at Feyenoord and help achieve the team’s goals."
Iwasaki made her debut in the WE League in 2021 and became a key player for Tokyo Verdy Beleza. She also represented Japan's U-20 national team, participating in the World Cup in 2022.
Iwasaki will wear jersey number 7 for Feyenoord Vrouwen 1.
