Feyenoord welcomes A.S.D. Bissarese Calcio coaches from Italy for an Academy Visit

On April 22nd, the Feyenoord Academy welcomed A.S.D. Bissarese Calcio Coaches from Italy for a four-day educational visit focused on coaching development and international knowledge exchange. The program, organized by Feyenoord Global Football, provided the visiting coaches with in-depth insight into the Academy’s structure, methodology, and daily training environment.

Guglielmo Bacigalupi, Technical Area Manager U7/U13 reflected on the visit: ‘‘We found this experience to be truly formative, both in the development and growth of young athletes, fully aligning with the club’s philosophy. I found Jim and the Feyenoord Academy staff to be exceptionally helpful individuals. I hope to have the opportunity to share more experiences in the future.’’

Jim Camphens, Head of Coaching Lower Age Teams Feyenoord Academy, also reflected on the visit: ‘’Guglielmo and his coaches were extremely enthusiastic about our facilities, and especially about the high level of quality in our program, our players, and the staff at Feyenoord. According to him, we have a clear vision and a well-aligned approach to developing our youngest talents towards our first team. During their time with us, we were able to exchange a great deal of ideas about age-specific characteristics and about designing appropriate programs for each age group, in order to guide each individual as effectively as possible in their own development.’’

On the first day, the coaches observed several youth training sessions, including U7, as well as friendly matches involving U9 and U11/U12 teams. The second and third days focused on observing training sessions across all age groups, ranging from U8 to U21, including sessions of the women’s first team. This enabled the coaches to experience how Feyenoord’s coaching philosophy is consistently applied across different age categories. In addition, Jim Camphens, Head of Coaching Lower Age Teams, delivered an in-depth presentation on the structure and coaching methodology within the lower age teams.

Beyond the training ground, the program also included a visit to De Kuip, where the coaches took part in a guided stadium tour, a group photo session, and a visit to the Feyenoord Fan shop. These activities provided a broader understanding of the club’s identity and culture.

On the final day, the delegation attended several matches, including fixtures involving Feyenoord’s youth teams and a friendly match between Feyenoord U19/U21 and SBV Excelsior U21. This matchday experience offered additional insight into player development within a game-like environment.

Feyenoord Global Football remains committed to building strong international partnerships and promoting the exchange of knowledge in football development. We would like to thank the A.S.D. Bissarese Calcio Coaches for their visit and enthusiasm.
