Feyenoord secured a hard-fought victory in Groningen on Sunday. Robin van Persie’s team had to dig deep for more than 99 minutes but emerged as winners thanks to a precise header from Ayase Ueda: 0-1.
Van Persie was pleased with the team’s determination to fight for three points. The coach had hoped for a response like this from his squad following the midweek setback in the Europa League. The only blemish on the victory was the injury to Malcolm Jeng, who went off at the break.
Before the international break, Feyenoord will play two more home matches: on Thursday at 21:00 against Aston Villa in the Europa League, followed by the league match against FC Utrecht on Sunday at 14:30.
