Feyenoord won Sunday's Rotterdam derby against Excelsior. This was largely thanks to Ayase Ueda, whose two goals secured a 2-1 victory at De Kuip.
The Japanese top scorer scored twice after halftime within a span of two minutes, repairing the damage from a very weak first half. With these goals, Ueda reached his 21st and 22nd league goals of the season.
A downside to the victory was that Feyenoord once again faced growing personnel problems. Inbeom Hwang and Bart Nieuwkoop were sidelined with injuries, while Mats Deijl received his fifth yellow card of the season, meaning the full-back will be suspended for next week’s Klassieker.
Feyenoord and Ajax will face each other next Sunday at 2:30 PM at De Kuip.
