Jyri Nieminen will combine his position as goalkeeper coach at Feyenoord with the same role with the Finnish national team. The 37-year-old goalkeeper coach, whose contract was recently extended by Feyenoord for two seasons until 2027, will be seconded to the Finnish Football Association for this purpose during international periods.
´This is a great opportunity for me and I am extremely grateful to Feyenoord for their willingness to cooperate in combining these two wonderful positions,´ said a proud and grateful Nieminen.
´Even after two years, I still feel completely at home in Rotterdam and completely in place at Feyenoord. I work with a group of ambitious, knowledgeable professionals and, above all, fine colleagues. The possibility of soon combining my work at Feyenoord with my role as goalkeeper coach in my home country completes the picture. Moreover, I can bring the experience I gain during international periods back to the club.´
Nieminen has been with Feyenoord since July 2023, having returned to Europe after several foreign adventures in South Africa and the United States. With his appointment by the Finnish Football Association, he returns to where he started his coaching career. When Nieminen joins the national team in June, the Netherlands national team will be the first opponent on 7 June.
