Feyenoord made history on Friday evening. Jessica Torny’s side defeated NAC Breda 3-0 at Varkenoord, securing a place in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup.
Torny’s team had little trouble at Varkenoord against already-relegated NAC Breda. Goals from Tori DellaPeruta and Esmee de Graaf gave Feyenoord a 2-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, Mao Itamura sealed the result with a superb long-range strike: 3-0.
FC Twente drop points
However, Feyenoord did not have qualification for third place — and with it the European ticket — entirely in their own hands. The team depended on FC Twente dropping points, as Twente held a two-point advantage before the final matchday. Twente suffered a 1-2 home defeat against league champions PSV, allowing Feyenoord to leapfrog them in the standings on the final day of the season.
Historic
Not only did qualification for the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup qualifying rounds (the second European competition in women’s football) make it a historic evening for Feyenoord, but finishing third in the final standings of the Eurojackpot Vrouwen Eredivisie is also the highest league finish in the history of the women’s team.

Eredivisie Cup
The league season may be over, but Feyenoord’s campaign is not completely finished yet. Next week, the team will play in the semi-finals of the Eredivisie Cup. In this tournament, the three period winners and the reigning league champions compete against each other in a knockout format.
Because PSV not only won the league title but also claimed two period titles, one of the Eredivisie Cup spots was passed on to Feyenoord.
On Monday, May 25, Feyenoord will face Ajax in Amsterdam in the semi-finals of the Eredivisie Cup. Kick-off is at 2 pm. Should Feyenoord win, they will play the final on Friday, May 29, against the winner of the other semi-final (PSV vs FC Twente).
