Mao Itamura has been named Eurojackpot Women’s Eredivisie Player of the Year. The 19-year-old player of Feyenoord V1 received the award on Monday evening during the Eredivisie Awards.
This season, Itamura developed not only into one of Feyenoord’s standout players, but also into one of the league’s brightest stars overall. With her unstoppable dribbles and attacking runs, the Japanese player showcased her class in almost every match. She also became Feyenoord’s top scorer with eight goals.
Itamura’s selection as Player of the Year was decided through a vote among the twelve captains of the clubs in the Eurojackpot Women’s Eredivisie. In the voting, Itamura finished ahead of Sisca Folkertsma (PSV), Danique Noordman (Ajax), Liz Rijsbergen (PSV), and Jill Roord (FC Twente).
