Mats Deijl is a Feyenoord player. The 28-year-old right-back has signed a contract that ties him to the club until the summer of 2028, with the option for an additional season. This happened on Thursday evening, immediately after his last match for Go Ahead Eagles in Nice, France, which means that Feyenoord has the player eligible and available in time for the home match against Heracles Almelo on Sunday afternoon in their own stadium, De Kuip.
'This is a step that, in my case, I dreamed of as a young boy, so the decision was made very quickly when Feyenoord approached me,' says Deijl, who has had almost no time to reflect on his transfer and who is set to make his debut in the red and white shirt within 24 hours. 'That last part is also nice. It's just keep going, but now in De Kuip. Wonderful! I've been able to experience being on the field here a number of times, but not yet in a Feyenoord shirt. I'm really looking forward to that. I can't wait.'
Deijl completed his first training session for Feyenoord on Saturday afternoon. He will play with the number 20 on his shirt.
