Poles and nets at Klassieker in De Kuip

For the Feyenoord - Ajax match, poles and nets will be placed on all four sides at De Kuip. The preventive measure, designed to prevent objects from landing on the pitch, applies in principle only to the Klassieker, a match that is traditionally fraught.

Leading up to the current season, Feyenoord met the widely held desire to remove the poles and nets from De Kuip. Partly prompted by the unchanged rules from the KNVB on throwing objects, the club did let it be known at the time that the poles and nets would be returned for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season if a Feyenoord home game had to be interrupted or suspended.

To prevent the Klassieker from having such drastic consequences, Feyenoord has now decided to reinstate the posts and nets for the league match with Ajax on September 1. The decision was made after taking various opinions.

It had already been decided and communicated that the policy for European matches would not change from last season. Because of even greater sporting, financial and image interests, poles and nets will be placed on both short sides and on the Maaszijde for home UEFA Champions League matches. Also, like last season, section Z will remain closed on the Olympiazijde.
