Reiss Nelson returns to Feyenoord

“It’s really great to be back here,” says Nelson. “I had a wonderful year at Feyenoord and always felt at home there. That’s why it feels good to be back at 1908. I’ve always kept up with Feyenoord, and it’s been great to see the progress the club has made. The fact that we’re kicking off a new Champions League season next week is a great example of that. I’m going to do everything I can to contribute to the team as soon as possible, and I can’t wait to put this jersey on again.”

Nelson joined Arsenal’s youth academy at the age of nine. There, he developed into an English youth international and, as one of the club’s top prospects, made his first-team debut at the age of 17. After a successful loan spell with TSG Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga, Nelson joined Feyenoord in mid-2021. With his speed and dribbling skills, he gradually earned more playing time as the season progressed, and the winger eventually became a regular starter.

With his constant threat, he played a key role in the club’s UEFA Conference League campaign, which culminated in the final against AS Roma in Tirana. Nelson also started in the final, in what appeared at the time to be his last match for Feyenoord. That is now set to change. After loan spells with Fulham and Brentford in the English Premier League, Nelson is now returning to Rotterdam-Zuid.
