Robin van Persie will be able to call on Tsuyoshi Watanabe for Thursday evening’s home match against Panathinaikos. The Japanese defender missed last weekend’s game in Almelo due to minor complaints.
Feyenoord’s head coach had also hoped to have Quinten Timber back for the third matchday of the Europa League. The midfielder trained on Wednesday but still experienced too much discomfort from the injury that has kept him sidelined in recent weeks.
At home against the Greek side, Feyenoord will be aiming for their first European points of the season. “This is a must-win match for us,” Van Persie said during Wednesday’s press conference.
