Tijme Wessels extends Feyenoord contract

'I think it is fantastic that the people at the club are showing their faith in me with this new contract,' said Wessels. 'I see it as a reward for my development since joining Feyenoord Academy eight years ago. The fact that I am currently training with the first team and have even been able to make my official debut against Sparta is amazing. I am simply enjoying every moment, while continuing to work incredibly hard to experience many more special moments with the club.'

Wessels started playing football at HVC'10 in Hoek van Holland, before joining the youth academy of Sparta Rotterdam not long afterwards, the club against which he made his debut last Sunday. He moved to Varkenoord in the summer of 2018 and has since progressed through all the youth teams up to U19, with whom he won the league title last season.

During pre-season, Wessels was given the opportunity to train with the first team under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and also featured in several friendly matches.
