Mao Itamura is in contention for two different awards at the Eredivisie Awards. The Feyenoord player has been nominated for both ‘Player of the Year’ and ‘Johan Cruyff Talent of the Year’ for the 2025/2026 season in the Eurojackpot Women’s Eredivisie.
The double nomination is recognition of Itamura’s impressive season in Rotterdam. The 19-year-old forward, who joined Feyenoord in January 2025, scored seven goals this season. In addition, she regularly stood out with her pace, dribbling and dangerous crosses.
Earlier this season, Itamura had already been recognised by the Eurojackpot Women’s Eredivisie. In October 2025, she was named ‘Talent of the Month’. She won the award again in March and, in the same month, was also voted ‘Winner of the Month’. In doing so, she became the first player ever to win both awards in the same month.
Itamura has also enjoyed a memorable season on the international stage. In April, she won the AFC Women’s Asia Cup with Japan U20. During the semi-final, the forward wore the captain’s armband and made her mark by scoring twice.
The Eredivisie Awards will be presented on Monday 25 May.
