Van Persie: 'We just want to win'

Feyenoord are preparing for the topper against PSV. A match that could determine a lot when it comes to the battle for the top spots in the Eredivisie, but Robin van Persie says he is not concerned with that. 'We just want to win the game, no matter what the consequences are beyond that', the coach spoke at Friday's press conference.

A win would see Feyenoord reduce the gap with the Eindhoven side to two points. That would leave the battle for second place with two rounds of matches to go completely open, although Van Persie remained realistic. 'Even then, everything has to go our way. Moreover, we also have to keep looking backwards, with FC Utrecht continuing to do well.'

With Calvin Stengs, Van Persie may have an extra weapon against PSV. The left winger has fully recovered from an injury that has kept him sidelined in recent months and will be back in the matchday squad for the first time on Sunday.

Van Persie: 'Calvin has been training fully for a while now and that's going really well. He will not start, that is not logical given his situation, but he is not the type of player who necessarily needs a lot of rhythm. When I see him busy at training... the class is dripping from that.'

Besides the longer-injured Justin Bijlow, Jordan Lotomba, Bart Nieuwkoop, Chris-Kévin Nadje and Shiloh 't Zand, only Luka Ivanušec will be unavailable on Sunday. An injury sustained at training means he will miss the remaining games this season.

Feyenoord - PSV starts Sunday at 14:30 and can be seen live on ESPN 2.
