Feyenoord, Stadion Feijenoord, and the Association of Shareholders of Stadion Feijenoord (VASF) have reached an agreement on the terms for the unification of the stadium and the club. On June 11, 2026, an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM) of Stadion Feijenoord N.V. will take place, during which shareholders will be asked to approve the unification. Following this approval and the fulfillment of the necessary formal requirements, essential maintenance and improvements to De Kuip can begin immediately.
Investment of Tens of Millions of Euros
As has been stated many times before, the merger of the club and the stadium through this share transaction is crucial for renovating and improving Stadion Feijenoord. Feyenoord needs a stadium that, both in the short and long term, meets the requirements of supporters, staff and players, the KNVB, UEFA, and government authorities. This requires investments of tens of millions of euros. Stadion Feijenoord does not have these funds available, making external financing necessary. Recent years have shown that Feyenoord is the only party willing and able to make these required investments.
What are the shareholders voting on?
During the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGM) of Stadion Feijenoord on June 11, only the proposal for unification will be on the agenda. The main elements of the proposal to shareholders are:
Carefulness Over Speed
Lilian de Leeuw, stadium director, said:
"I am truly very pleased with this agreement with the VASF. It took longer than planned, but careful consideration was more important than speed. We can now move quickly with maintenance and improvements. Fantastic."
Immediate Investments
Feyenoord’s management is also very pleased that the unification finally appears to be moving forward. Pieter Smorenburg, Financial Director, stated:
"For the club and the supporters, it is extremely important that we can now make the necessary adjustments. Especially over the next five years, we will be investing heavily, with many millions already in the first year."
Shareholders’ Interests Safeguarded
Conré Oostrom, chairman of the Association of Shareholders of Stadion Feijenoord (VASF), said:
"I express the hope that our members will approve this agreement during the members' meeting. Their interests are well protected in the proposed agreements: the seating rights and the much-needed investments in the stadium."
Finally, Feyenoord’s soon-to-depart CEO Dennis te Kloese described it as:
"A truly fantastic step in the right direction. This further increases the prospects of an even brighter future for Feyenoord. I want to express my gratitude and admiration for all the energy and time invested by so many people in reaching this point together."
