Feyenoord to host Atlético Madrid in traditional pre-season exhibition match
A worthy opponent has been found for Feyenoord’s traditional pre-season exhibitation match. One week before the Dutch domestic league commences, the team of head coach Arne Slot will play against Spanish La Liga champions Atlético Madrid in a friendly match in ‘De Kuip’ in Rotterdam. The match will be played on Sunday August 8, kick-off time 17:00 hours.
Atlético Madrid secured their 11th La Liga title last season, following a close battle with rival Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, winning Diego Simeone his eight prize in ten years as head coach of Atleti.
The friendly match against Feyenoord will be Atletico Madrid’s last test before the start of the Primera División. On Sunday August 15, the reigning champions take on Celta de Vigo in an away game to kick off the new season in Spain. Feyenoord will begin its 2021-2022 season in the same weekend with an away game against Willem II.
