Dick Advocaat stepping down at the end of the season

Dick Advocaat has notified the management of the club of his intention to leave Feyenoord at the end of this season. The head coach decided to share his decision now in order to give the club as much time as possible to search for a successor and end the speculation about his future.

‘We can still have a very good season, especially when a number of injured players return,’ says the 73-year-old Advocaat. ‘I’ll do my utmost to achieve that, but then it will be over. I know I’ve said that previously. But this time you can hold me to it: the next few months really will be my last as a club coach. After a long and wonderful career, Feyenoord is a brilliant club to finish at when the time comes. Hopefully – and I believe this – we can still achieve great things before then.’

Technical director Frank Arnesen has ‘nothing but praise and respect’ for Advocaat. ‘Dick is really a fantastic personality and a very inspired coach, who always manages to get the maximum out of a team with his approach. Feyenoord can be happy and proud that he has decided he wants to end his long and glittering career as a club coach here.’
