Feyenoord take defender Uros Spajic on loan

Feyenoord added Uros Spajic to their squad on Tuesday. The 27-year-old Serbian central defender arrives on loan from Russian side FK Krasnodar for the rest of the season.

Spajic came through the Red Star Belgrade academy, signing professional terms and making his first team debut in 2010-2011. He flew the coop in 2013, when he signed for French outfit Toulouse. He went on to play for two seasons at Anderlecht before returning to FK Krasnodar for two more years. On 4 September 2015 Spajic made his bow for the Serbian national team in a 2-0 win against Armenia, a Euro 2016 qualifier. He now has 11 caps.

Says Frank Arnesen: ‘It’s no secret we wanted to add another central defender to the squad. We’ve managed that with the arrival of Uros Spajic and we get not only an extra option but also extra experience in the defensive line of the group.’

Spajic will hook up with the rest of Dick Advocaat’s squad as soon as the paperwork for his work and residence permit comes through.
