Feyenoord sign left back Marcos Lopez from San Jose Earthquakes

Peru international Marcos Lopez has swapped United States MLS outfit is San Jose Earthquakes for Feyenoord. The 22-year has signed a four-year contract with the club.
‘It’s great to be able to play in Europe for this fine club and city,’ says a delighted Lopez. ‘This is a big step in my career and an opportunity I want to grab with both hands. With the help of the people at the club and the support of the passionate, loyal fanbase, I believe I’ll soon feel at home here.’

Capped 20 times by his native Peru, Lopez began his career at Lima-based Club Deportivo Universidad San Martín de Porres (USMP), making the switch to Major League Soccer at San Jose Earthquakes via Club Sporting Cristal, another club based in the Peruvian capital. He has played 60 times for the California side.

Marcos Lopez is still waiting for his work permit to come through, so he is not immediately available for selection by Arne Slot. He does already have a shirt number: Lopez will wear the number 15 jersey at Feyenoord.
