Feyenoord sign talented striker Christian Conteh

Feyenoord have secured the services of Christian Conteh. The 20-year striker, born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, has joined the club on a four-year deal from Hamburg side 1. FC Sankt Pauli.

Conteh joined the Sankt Pauli youth team in 2017, making his first-team debut last summer at age 19. He immediately scored his first goal in professional football in that Bundesliga 2 game, against Arminia Bielefeld, who went on to win the league.

‘We have been watching Conteh for quite a while,’ says Feyenoord’s technical director Frank Arnesen. ‘He’s very fast, he’s good on the ball and he’s someone who can pose a big threat behind the lines. This boy has great potential, so we want to give him the time, space and attention to continue his development.’

Conteh made a quick visit to Rotterdam on Wednesday for his medical, but has now returned to his home city of Hamburg, where he will wait for preseason to begin.
