Feyenoord take striker Lucas Pratto on loan from River Plate

Feyenoord have added Lucas David Pratto (32) to their attacking options for the rest of the season. The Argentinean striker is set to join the club on loan with immediate effect from River Plate.

The experienced Pratto has played the majority of his career in South America after making his debut as a youth for Boca Juniors in 2007. He has five caps for Argentina.

In a successful carreer in the club game in Argentina, Chile and Brazil, Pratto has earned a host of individual honours. As well of a Player of the Year award in his homeland, Pratto has also been named Best Foreign Player of the Year in both Chile and Brazil.

Pratto’s move to Rotterdam is not his first European adventure. He played half a season for FC Lyn Oslo in Norway and between 2011 and 2013 he made 85 appearances leading the forward line at Genoa FC in Italy, where he scored 33 goals. In recent years Pratto has been active in South America, for São Paulo and River Plate.

‘With the arrival of an experienced striker of Lucas’ calibre we’re adding an extra offensive option to the squad who can come in immediately, says Feyenoord’s technical director Frank Arnesen. ‘That’s very welcome considering the impending important season resumption and the ambitions we have for this season. It’s good for Feyenoord that we have been able to strengthen our squad in this manner for the rest of the season.’
