Feyenoord International

Inspiring trip for Dutch Connections FC to the Feyenoord Academy

Dutch Connections FC, originating from Toronto, Canada, finally got the opportunity again to travel to Rotterdam. After being absent for four years, caused by the pandemic, they got the occasion to experience Feyenoord, their coaching staff, Dutch football and top class competitors from Europe. The U15 team from Dutch Connections FC, one of the top teams in the Ontario region, directly got the chance to see and feel the top level of U15’s football in the Netherlands by watching the match of Feyenoord U15’s against Ajax U15’s, who played each other in the final for the national championship. They did not only see the team from Rotterdam winning, but also saw their former DCFC player, Kevin Khan, become a national champion in the Netherlands.

The main goals for the week were learning and developing as a player. Feyenoord Academy coaches, Dencho Narcisio and Justin Tyrol, were up to an interesting week to test the U15’s level and develop them as individuals. Feyenoord did not only test the level of the DCFC players in practice, but also during friendly matches against NAC Breda and Excelsior. Both matches were very competitive and gave the players the opportunity to display their qualities.

International OSM ’75 Tournament
All the previous experiences in the week, such as the training sessions, individual player talks, friendly matches, etc., ended up to being a part of the bigger goal of this week: the participation in the International OSM ’75 Tournament. With opponents such as FC Utrecht, Aberdeen, ADO Den Haag, FC Honka, and many more, it was a great opportunity for the Canadian youngster to test themselves against strong opponents and various play styles. Although Dutch Connections FC won their match against FC Utrecht, most of their games ended in a draw or a loss. But by conceding just two goals in the group phase, they showed their footballing abilities against European teams. Overall, the team can look back on close and competitive games.

Founder and staff member of Dutch Connections FC, Andrew Ornoch, was pleased with the experience arranged by Feyenoord: ‘The week was full of opportunities to learn, gain new experience and challenge our players and staff. We are grateful to Feyenoord for the fantastic organization, and helping our players make valuable memories on and off the pitch.’

Feyenoord Camps in Canada
This summer, Feyenoord and Dutch Connections FC are organizing the 10th edition of Feyenoord Camps in Canada. From 10 to 21 July, hundreds of youth players will again participate in this Feyenoord Camp.
