Sharing the Feyenoord methodology with over 250 players in Canada

Feyenoord organized a Feyenoord Camp in Toronto in collaboration with Dutch Connections FC from the 11th to the 22nd of July 2022. This Feyenoord Camp was the 9th edition of the annual camps in Canada, which are attracting hundreds of players every year. ‘We could not continue the organization of our Feyenoord Camps in Canada the past two years because of the travel restrictions that occurred due to the pandemic’, said Gido Vader, Manager of International Relations at Feyenoord. ‘It’s fantastic to be back in Canada and to continue this tradition together with our loyal partner, Dutch Connections FC.’ Feyenoord and Dutch Connections FC organized successful camps in Toronto, Mississauga and Vancouver together in the past.

Over the past two weeks, more than 250 players between the ages of 8 and 15 years old took part in the Feyenoord Camp in Toronto. Three Feyenoord coaches made their way to Canada to lead the sessions, assisted by Dutch Connections FC coaches. ‘The opportunity to work closely with and learn from the Feyenoord staff is very helpful for the development of our players and technical staff and truly helps to build a unique culture here in Canada’, starts Andrew Ornoch, Co-Founder & Director of Dutch Connections FC. ‘We are very pleased to once again host the Feyenoord Camps Canada in Toronto and work closely with all the players while sharing the Feyenoord methodology, as well as focusing on playing the Dutch Connections way. We are looking forward to this continued partnership for years to come!’

‘Canadian youth football has many talented players’, starts David Toxopeus, Head Coach of the Feyenoord Academy U15’s. ‘We provided them with a lot of examples from our Feyenoord football methodology during this camp, focusing on the game intentions and principles that are being used at the Feyenoord Academy. It was a great pleasure to work with the passionate Dutch connections FC staff, both on and off the field, the past two weeks. This really had a positive impact on the experience for the players and helped them to achieve maximum development during this camp.’

All the activities during the camp took place on the premises of the University of Toronto – The Valley Fields. In addition to Canadian players, there were also participants from the United States, the Caribbean and players who are currently training with Dutch Connections FC while away from their European clubs.
