Head of Physiotherapy

At Feyenoord, we operate as One Football Department, where medical, performance and football staff align around one goal: enabling players to train intensely, stay available and perform consistently at the highest level. Within this model, we are looking to strengthen our Medical & Performance team with a Head of Physiotherapy for the First Team.

What will you do?

As Head of Physiotherapy, you are central to Feyenoord’s high-performance environment. Reporting to the Performance Director and Club Doctor, you lead physiotherapy and rehabilitation services, focusing on player availability and elite performance.

The role requires strong execution, leadership and continuous communication.

  • Deliver hands-on clinical assessment and treatment to elite standards on a daily basis;
  • Integrate rehabilitation, training load and performance alongside medical, performance and football staff;
  • Act as a key sparring partner to the Performance Director on medical strategy and return-to-play;
  • Lead data-driven rehabilitation and reintegration from treatment to full team training;
  • Ensure clear communication and accountability on player status and timelines;
  • Provide concise updates to the Performance Director and Head Coach;
  • Lead matchday medical operations, including pitch-side care and recovery;
  • Oversee player health and availability during travel and congested schedules.

Who are you?

You are a visionary leader who understands that elite performance comes from integrated systems, combining clinical expertise with a deep understanding of football and high-performance environments.

  • Proven experience in professional football or high-performance sport, with a strong track record in injury management and rehabilitation;
  • A systems-based approach, with solid knowledge of Dynamical Systems Theory applied in practice;
  • Strong clinical expertise, with advanced diagnostics and decision-making under pressure; ultrasound experience is a plus;
  • Comfortable collaborating with performance staff on load management, conditioning and periodization;
  • Decisive leadership, with the confidence to challenge and improve existing practices;
  • Strong interest in research and innovation, translating science into daily practice;
  • A multidisciplinary mindset, thriving in collaborative, open environments;
  • Consistent performance in elite settings with high standards, accountability and professionalism.
