Anel Ahmedhodžić leaves Feyenoord for Burnley FC

Anel Ahmedhodžić is leaving Feyenoord. The club and player have reached an agreement with Burnley FC over the immediate transfer of the 27-year-old central defender. Ahmedhodžić, who was under contract until mid-2029, leaves De Kuip after one season to join the English Championship side.

‘My time in Rotterdam was short, but Feyenoord will always remain a wonderful chapter in my career,’ says Ahmedhodžić. ‘From the very first moment, when I made my debut against Fenerbahçe, I enjoyed the passion at De Kuip and the way the supporters immediately showed their appreciation for me. I am returning to England, but I will always continue to follow Feyenoord. I wish everyone at and around the club every success.’

Ahmedhodžić joined Feyenoord from Sheffield United last summer and made an immediate debut for the club. Just one day after his arrival, he started the home leg of the Champions League qualifiers against Turkish side Fenerbahçe and immediately stood out with his uncompromising character. The 1.90-metre-tall Bosnian-Swedish defender also featured regularly in Feyenoord’s starting eleven throughout the remainder of the season. In total, Ahmedhodžić made 36 official appearances for Feyenoord 1.
